Trees of life
23rd Jan -24th Feb 2012
Gallery II, University of Bradford, Richmond Road, Bradford, BD7 1DP
I have been invited by the University of Bradford’s Gallery II to collaborate on its’ Connecting the Local to the Global Project. A major part of the exhibition is to create an interactive installation with my Wishing Trees. The wishing tree is a very popular theme in Chinese culture, similar to western superstitions such as throwing coins into fountains to bring good luck.
I am very pleased to be able to provide work which will contribute to a large-scale installation. Part of the exhibition will interact with the people of Bradford and students on campus, to encourage expression and contribute to the city’s artistic discourse. This will be combined with a Gallery II project which has ambitiously managed to attract over one hundred local artists to make over one thousand handmade gnomes. All of these gnomes we intend to sent out in to the local and global community.
If you would like to get involved yourself. Please send a wish along with your postal address toexhibition@wangyanstudio.com and you will be included in the project – and if karma can help it your wish will come true. Of course, you are more than welcome to visit the exhibition and write your wish while you are there.
